Kenya's Alex Ekesa will make his debut at the 42nd TTIM International Marathon this Sunday, March 24th, to challenge reigning champion Jason Sayers of Saint Lucia and Colombia's Jose Diaz. Diaz, who secured second place in 2020 with a time of 2:35:52, poses a formidable threat. Sayers, victorious in 2:44 hours last year, is determined to defend his title against Ekesa. Collin Pereira of the Coast Guard and Curtis Cox, the first Trinbagonian to finish in 2018, are also set to join the competition.

With 39 international participants from 13 countries, including China, Austria, Poland, France, Great Britain, and from the Americas; Uruguay, Brazil, Canada, the USA, Jamaica and others, the TTIM Festival of Races promises excitement. Meanwhile, the women's marathon will witness defending champion Shardie Mahabir facing off against Christine Regis, who secured second place in 2016 with a time of 3:22, and Sjaelan Evans, making her return to racing since 2020. They will face tough competition from Colombia's Palmenia Berrio, who clinched third place in 2020 with a time of 2:56:03.

The TT Police Service and Ministry of Works and Transport have collaborated with the TT Marathon Committee to ensure a safe and closed course for runners along the Priority Bus Route starting at 4:30 am on March 24th. The Race Village returns to its usual location opposite White Hall in the Queen’s Park Savannah, with runners navigating an easterly route around the QPS, Dundonald Street, Independence Square, South Quay, and the Priority Bus Route to Dinsley Road before returning the same way.

This event is made possible thanks to the continued support of partners like Blue Waters and Subway, as well as Angostura, Gatorade, Guiltless, Loud Lollies, Very Exciting Things, Carib,
Nestle, the NWRHA, TT Defense Force, MILAT, ScoutsTT, NAAATT, TT Olympic Committee, TEAM Communications, TTRU, and the Sport and Culture Fund of which we could not have completed this event.
